I am a Ph.D. student at Cornell’s CS department, currently working with Prof. Cristian Danescu-Niculescu-Mizil on the development and auditing of AI mediators and assistants.
Previously I was an intern at MPI-SP under the supervision of Prof. Meeyoung Cha and I completed my M.Sc. at UFMG, in Brazil, under Prof. Virgilio Almeida and Prof. Wagner Meira Jr. During my Master’s I focused on analyzing collective behavior in social media platforms, researching phenomena such as politicization, misinformation and radicalization.
Research focus: My focus is understanding how complex systems work. Here, a system can be a machine learning model, social media platforms, or even human behavior. This interest shapes my work, which generally fits into two broad areas:

Understanding AI models: With the advances of large scale pretraining techniques, models are becoming increasingly large and complex. There is still a lack of understanding on how concepts are learned and internalized in these models and, in turn, a lack of understanding on how those concepts shape the model outputs, possibly leading to harm. At Cornell, I aim to further both of these goals through the study of conversational AI. At MPI-SP we have studied the model side of the equation (ICML’26), while at UFMG we have studied the output side (AIES’24).

Understanding discourse in social media: Social media has undeniably shaped how humans communicate, leading to a plethora of desirable – and undesirable – outcomes. Understanding how such outcomes takes shape is fundamental for (a) analyzing how people’s behavior is changing in social media, (b) guiding efforts in platform moderation, (c) providing policymakers with actionable insights regarding social issues. At UFMG and MPI-SP, we have conducted research regarding politicization (ICWSM’24), misinformation (FAccT’26, HyperText’22), climate communication (AAAI’26), and radicalization (ASONAM’25).
